A Blind Kitten from Cairo Who Found Her Way Home

Cleopatra’s Story
Cleopatra is a rescued cat from Cairo, now safe and thriving in her forever home in the US.
Today we are thrilled to share that Cleopatra — the brave little cat who once teetered on the edge of survival in Cairo — has safely arrived in her forever home in the United States! Your generous support made this remarkable journey possible. But before we celebrate, we want to acknowledge just how much she has overcome.
As a kitten, Cleopatra was abandoned on the chaotic streets of Cairo, navigating a world of danger without being able to see. She dodged cars, stumbled through crowds, and narrowly escaped harm — every day a fight for survival. Then one day, a passerby brutally kicked her in the head. A kind stranger witnessed the cruelty and contacted one of our partner rescues.
We rushed Cleopatra to the vet hospital, where she received emergency care and was referred to an eye specialist. The specialist recommended removing her most damaged eye and performing a corneal transplant on the other — her only hope of regaining some vision and a chance at a better life.
The road to recovery was long. Cleopatra spent months in a safe, loving environment with round-the-clock care, nourishing meals, and endless affection. Every day our volunteers administered medication and eye drops, and slowly but surely, she began to heal — not just physically, but emotionally too.
Amazingly, Cleopatra regained partial vision! Her remaining eye now functions at about 80%. Today she is active, curious, and full of life. Her recovery is all thanks to this community — with your support, Cleopatra made her healing transformation and her journey to a loving home. Thank you for being part of her story.
