From the Streets of Sphinx Square to a Loving Home in Canada
Sphinx’s Story
Sphinx is a rescued kitten from Cairo, now safe and thriving in her forever home in Canada.
Sphinx was just a tiny kitten when she ran up to a cat rescuer named Nesma in Cairo's Sphinx Square. Friendly and desperate for help, she was suffering terribly from a severe calicivirus infection that had ravaged her little mouth.
When Nesma took her in, Sphinx was battling far more than calicivirus — she was also fighting anemia, blood parasites, and ringworm. She was fragile and very sick, but for the first time, she was safe.
Under the careful watch of the veterinary team, Sphinx received antibiotics and round-the-clock care. Slowly, she began to respond. Her infections cleared, her strength returned, and the frightened little kitten started to blossom.
Once she had recovered, Sphinx boarded an EgyptAir “Freedom Flight” bound for a brand-new life. Out of several families hoping to adopt her, the perfect home was found in Canada — with loving owners and a feline companion of her very own.
Today, Sphinx is exactly where she belongs: safe, healthy, and adored. None of it would have been possible without Nesma S. Darwish in Cairo, who found her and never gave up — and without the many kind people who donated to help save her life.
